Not all handbags are created equal, some no matter who you are will inspire feelings of aspiration and downright lust, in all women. I know women who couldn't tell you the difference between Alexander McQueen and Alexander Wang but can and will spot a "Real Birkin" across a crowded room, whilst wearing an eye patch. I could go into detail about the manufacture and why they are worth the money on a case by case basis, which is all true but it is the reaction of others and the confidence that can bring that renders them worth the investment. I happen to believe that bags are always worth the investment as when you make these purchases they are not seasonal... a bag can be forever, if you look after it and if you make the right choice the return on your investment can be equal to your initial outlay. They are a status symbol and they're real pretty. They also add an expectation of expense to most outfits, therefore increasing the fashion cache of your wardrobe, being the most recognisable of most designer pieces, they then raise the perceived cost of your entire outfit there by making you seem better dressed than you may be - I don't know why this is true but in my experience it nearly always is.
So if you are looking for an investment piece, I'd say make it in Leather as this will reap actual dividends.
